If you’re planning a 2027 wedding, there’s a good chance your phone is already full of bridal inspiration.
A beautiful complexion you’ve saved from Pinterest. The perfect bridal bun from Instagram. A celebrity wedding look you can’t stop thinking about. Perhaps even an entire folder dedicated to your dream bridal makeup.
But with so much inspiration available, choosing your wedding hair and makeup can actually feel harder.
After more than 18 years specialising in bridal hair and makeup, I’ve watched countless trends arrive, disappear and eventually return.
And I’ve learnt something important along the way:
The brides who look the most timeless aren’t necessarily the ones who followed every trend. They’re the ones who still looked like themselves.
That’s why I’m particularly excited about the 2027 bridal makeup trends beginning to emerge.
We’re seeing a return to romance, individuality and personality. Bridal beauty is becoming less about following one prescribed aesthetic and much more about taking elements you love and making them your own.
But rather than simply showing you what’s fashionable, I want to do something more useful.
I’m going to share the 2027 bridal hair and makeup trends I think are genuinely beautiful on a real wedding day — and the trends I believe should come with a little caution.
Because your bridal look doesn’t only need to look beautiful for an Instagram photograph.
It needs to look beautiful in person, on camera and many hours later.

1. The Biggest 2027 Bridal Beauty Trend: Looking Like YOU
This is probably my favourite trend of all.
There isn’t one definition of the “perfect bride” anymore.
Some brides want barely-there makeup and beautifully glowing skin.
Others want lashes, definition, contour and full glamour.
And neither is wrong.
The wider direction we’re seeing in weddings is towards celebrations that feel increasingly personal rather than performative. I believe exactly the same should apply to your bridal makeup.
When you sit in my chair, I’m not thinking:
“What look can I recreate on her?”
I’m thinking:
Who is she?
How does she normally wear her makeup?
Which features does she love?
What makes her feel confident?
What is she wearing?
What jewellery has she chosen?
What does her wedding look like?
And most importantly:
How does she want to feel when she finally looks in the mirror?
That’s why your bridal hair and makeup trial is about much more than simply trying a makeup look. It’s an opportunity to bring all those elements together and create something that genuinely feels like you.

Use trends for inspiration — never as a uniform.
The objective isn’t for someone to say:
“You look completely different!”
It’s for them to think:

2. Romantic Skin — But Not a Face Full of Shine
One of the most beautiful directions for 2027 is the return to romantic complexions.
Think softly sculpted cheeks, strategically placed luminosity, beautiful skin preparation and blush that makes the complexion look alive rather than heavily made-up.
But here’s where Instagram terminology can sometimes be misleading.
Glowing skin does not mean your entire face needs to glow.
A bridal complexion has a much bigger job to do than everyday makeup.
It needs to survive tears, hugs, heat, dancing and hours of photography.
It also needs to work under natural daylight, professional photography, flash, videography and phone cameras.
That’s why I prefer controlled luminosity.
The skin can still look fresh and radiant while strategic areas are set to give the makeup longevity and prevent unwanted shine.

Your skin should look luminous because it has dimension — not because every inch of it is reflecting light.
3. Soft Glam vs Full Glam: Why I’m Glad Both Are Back
For a while, bridal beauty became almost synonymous with ultra-natural makeup.
But glamour is returning.
And I’m here for it.
The difference is that modern bridal glamour doesn’t necessarily mean the heavy, highly structured makeup we saw years ago.
The newer direction feels softer and more sophisticated.
Beautifully blended eyes.
Defined lashes.
Polished skin.
Strategic sculpting.
A complexion that still resembles skin.
Enough definition to photograph beautifully without the makeup wearing you.
And importantly, soft glam and full glam don’t have to compete with each other.
One bride may feel her most beautiful with understated, softly defined makeup. Another may feel completely herself with stronger eyes, lashes and more definition.

Bridal hair is becoming less rigid too.
We’re seeing movement, texture, softer updos, face-framing pieces and hairstyles designed to look beautifully effortless.
And I love this direction.
But here’s my professional warning:
“Undone” and “falling out” are not the same thing.
An effortless-looking bridal hairstyle still requires structure underneath.
It has to withstand your veil, your jewellery, hundreds of hugs, the British weather, hours of photographs and eventually the dance floor.
That is why professional bridal hairstyling isn’t simply about creating something beautiful at the beginning of the morning.
It’s about creating something beautiful that lasts.

YES to softness. Never at the expense of longevity.
The skill is creating hair that looks effortless without actually being effortless to construct.
5. Modern Asian Bridal Makeup Is Becoming More Individual
This is a change I particularly love.
There is no single definition of an Asian bride.
Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and fusion weddings can have completely different aesthetics — and two brides having exactly the same ceremony may still want entirely different looks.
One bride may want traditional glamour.
Another may want barely-there skin with her bridal lengha.
Another might want a classic ceremony look followed by something dramatically different for her reception.
And increasingly, I see brides wanting to respect their traditions without feeling restricted by them.
Your jewellery, outfit, dupatta, hairstyle and makeup need to work together.

6. The Bridal Trend I’d Approach With Caution: AI Inspiration
This is one of the subjects I think bridal artists need to start talking about.
Not every beautiful bridal image online is necessarily achievable — and increasingly, not every “bride” you’re looking at is necessarily real.
AI-generated and heavily retouched beauty imagery can create impossible skin texture, altered proportions, perfect symmetry and lighting that simply doesn’t exist in real life.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring Pinterest or Instagram inspiration to your bridal trial.
Please do.
But instead of saying:
“I want to look exactly like her.”
Look at why you saved the image.
Was it the skin?
The eye makeup?
The colour palette?
The lashes?
The lip?
The hair?
Or simply the overall softness and feeling of the image?
That’s far more useful to your artist.
Your inspiration should give us a direction — not another woman’s face to use as your success metric.

7. The Bridal Trend That Will Never Go Out of Fashion: Longevity
This isn’t glamorous enough to become a TikTok trend.
But it’s probably the most important thing I’ll tell you in this article.
Your bridal makeup needs to last.
A look can photograph beautifully at 8am and be completely unsuitable for a real wedding if it’s disappearing by lunchtime.
For some of my brides, their hair and makeup needs to perform for 15–16 hours.
That’s why skin preparation, layering, setting, product compatibility, hair preparation, pin placement and understanding your individual skin and hair type matter.
Longevity isn’t about applying more product.
It’s about knowing where, why and how to apply it.
When you’re comparing bridal artists or deciding which service is right for you, don’t just look at the finished photograph. Think about the entire experience and how the look needs to perform throughout your wedding.

Don’t choose a trend. Choose elements.

The romantic hairstyle you’ve saved for months.
The lip colour you’ve always loved.
Then add your:
features, personality, culture, outfit, jewellery, venue and wedding style.
